Flashback: On April 26, 2016, Blue Dragon, a children’s sculpture donated to Roosevelt Island by Swedish artists, Gustav and Ulla Kraitz was unveiled in its new and permanent home along the East River in Southpoint Park. It looks across the water to the United Nations and Kraitz’s Hope, created in honor of Swedish humanitarian hero Raoul Wallenberg.
The gift to Roosevelt Island resulted from a joint effort between the Roosevelt Island Visual Art Association, RIOC and the Residents’ Association and was guided through the process by Island resident Elisabeth Stapen and RIVAA president Tad Sudol.
