Assorted Ideas, Large & Small

Assorted Ideas, Large & Small

Assorted Ideas, Large & Small came from ordinary beginnings.

Love does not conquer all. Ideas do. All the world’s first something different, an idea, and it comes to life as a thing, lots of things.

David Stone is a New York City based writer, founding publisher of The Roosevelt Island Daily and News; author of a dozen novels, poetry and nonfiction articles and books.

Roughly a decade ago, a pair of writer friends invited me to join them in an out on borders project. Posting ideas, that is, in a group blog, original and off the beaten path, but one that might reset a paradigm if it reached enough eyeballs.

They called it The Thirteenth Edge but never explained why. They also soon lost their enthusiasm, but I didn’t.

And from there, Assorted Ideas, Large & Small was born.

I worked on it, off and on, then moved it over here on WordPress, a better environment for anyone who loves the play of images and ideas..

The Largest Idea

Assorted Ideas, Large & Small: Everything Is Connected
Nothing goes untouched. Ever. Because everything is connected. Something moves, and an entire universe jiggles with it.

Everything Is Connected

Everything is connected… It’s a fact, and facts don’t care what you think. They just sit there. Pick a fight with them. They’re not always permanent. You can bend them.

Assorted Ideas, Large & Small That Stuck

They say love conquers all

You can’t start it like a car

You can’t stop it with a gun

Warren Zevon /Searching for a Hearth

All Those Big Things We Don’t Know

Everything Is Connected
Sweep pride and ego aside, and the truth emerges… We know a lot, but there’s so much more at every scale that we don’t know. We’ve got a long road ahead of us.

And now there is merely silence, silence, silence saying

All we did not know.

Sagacity, Willian Rose Benet

nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

e.e. cummings/somewhere I’ve traveled gladly beyond

Heartily know,

When half-gods go,

The gods arrive.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, Give All to Love

Around us fear, descending

Darkness of fear above

And in my heart how deep unending

Ache of love!

On the beach at fontana – James Joyce

And In Verse…

There is no distinctly American criminal class – except Congress.
