“Under the Charles Bridge, taken in Prague in the Czech Republic has a modernist, surreal look, as if posed, but it wasn’t. The picture’s exactly what I found it while walking from the Old Town one afternoon.”
From a vantage point beneath the Charles Bridge, street photographer Deborah Julian looked up and saw people lingering from an odd angle. Visitors pass, and an umbrella balances on the rail. After hundreds of years in the sun and rain, the ancient bridge’s wall gives an umbrella a place to rest, free of whoever it sheltered. Unaware, a couple looks up and away.
Under the Charles Bridge is an 8 1/2 X 11 inch giclee print. For quality control, this photographer makes every print herself on Archival Epson Papers. Each is signed by me on the white border beneath the image or on the reverse.
