FIGMENT NYC 2019 kicked off today In New York on Roosevelt Island. June 1st, 2019, Roosevelt Island welcomed its first FIGMENT NYC participatory art project in Lighthouse Park. The crowd for this fun family event was perfectly light, and it was manageable, under fair morning skies.
The Roosevelt Island Tram’s 43rd Birthday caught historian Judith Berdy’s attention. “Happy 43rd Birthday,” she wrote in a May email. The Tram evolved from essential resource. It’s now also an adventure drawing more tourists than locals who count on it for commuting ever expected. Or welcomed.
